The Free Photography Project is for those who have experienced lasting hardship which would prevent them from hiring a professional photographer for personal portraiture. Their circumstances, whether from disaster, social standing, disability or illness, are the key driving factors for the effective social outcome of The Free Photography Project.

Put simply, The Free Photography Project does not exploit peoples struggles. The pictures can be gifted to loved ones, which relieves some hardship; the pictures start conversations which relieves some loneliness; the pictures remind people they have come a long way, and importantly they tell them that people still care and that we are proud of them too. Their struggle is merely a frame within which to emphasise healing and photography is one creative tool in the journey to recovery.
